After some advice from you guys, I decided to put everything behind and start fresh on the DAT. I'm planning to take the DAT in December and apply for the next cycle since I highly doubt they would even look at my application. So most likely, I am withdrawing it. 🙁 I wasted so much money, but I rather have good solid scores then really bad scores averaged onto my retake, you know? So yea...here goes my attempt to study.
I have trouble with Ochem because I took it 4 years ago and can barely remember a thing! Chem was my worst subject as well, but that's because I always studied last minute back then. 🙁 Can any of you direct to threads that you found helpful when you guys prepared for the DAT? Also, what books would be great for ochem and chem since I need to start from scratch? Any advice on studying would be great!! THanks guys. 😍

Start with Kaplan, good stuff, and read it slow, I hear Kaplan is all you need for GC/ and if you got it down pat for OC

hey, i am also going to retake in december/january time. I am starting to go over things now. Classes help the most I believe. My biology section after many upper level classes and some review has become a 22 on practice tests. And i find them easy compared to my class exams. Otherwise without classes it can be done, destroyer and shaums i believe are the best.

Timing is a key factor.. practice is good, but ive realized for science if u know the subject well it will come to you really fast and time wont even be an issue. KNOW ur stuff but be cautious

For ochem go destroyer. Gchem was stated above, use kaplan. Thats something i will work on too. I think the PAT is something you have to continually practice and use stratagies. Practice 1-3 times everyday with crack the pat and ull be set when test time comes, u have plenty of time from now onward.

As for reading comp....im not too sure how to do this myself, i read textbooks for my classes and i find that is kind of like practice for it. However i will need to study for it under timed situations.

Please add more advice if i didnt cover anything

Take a look at this site im making (its still in the very early stages).

Basicly make flash cards of the O-Chem road maps in destroyer and anything in the Kapalan Big Blue book. Then do the destroyer problems, but skip over the really weird or random stuff. Then do all the Kapalan online subject tests and practice tests to get a good grasp on the more conceptual O-Chem problems. Most importantly is to learn from your mistakes and to do many practice problems. Hope this helps.

Thank you for all the great tips 🙂 FuzzyChicken...the site you sent me is AWESOME!!! great outline of what I need to do! LOVE it. 😍
