Hey everyone. So I'm starting an informal Post-Bacc in fall of this year and since that doesn't start until September, I'm thinking it may be a decent idea to start studying now for the DAT in an attempt to get a solid score prior to starting my Post-Bacc. I'll only be taking 12 units in the Fall to get my feet wet, and then after that I'll be taking 16-19 units per quarter of upper-div science courses...so it'll be incredibly difficult for me to study for the DAT and nonetheless do well on it while I'm working on getting a 4.0 in all quarters.

If I'm doing this right at the top of my head, I'll be applying June of 2012 for Fall acceptance in 2013, while stating to admissions that I'll still be taking around 30+ units in between June 2012 and Fall 2013.

So, yea, what do you guys think? I basically have 3-4 months of free time right now (before September comes). Should I study hardcore and nail it right now? I might even be able to take a Kaplan course, assuming they have one that starts soon. I hear Kaplan is great for the DAT...but I suppose that's a discussion for a different thread.

Thanks guys. Much love.

Its not a bad idea to take the DAT this summer since your applying next summer. Its actually very ideal since you won't feel rushed to get the exam done while taking semesters + studying for DAT.

Since you do have a few months of free time, I think it would be an excellent idea for you to study for and take the DAT. You're not going to have as much time to study while you're taking classes, and if you're going to apply in summer 2012, I don't think you'd have to worry about your DAT scores expiring. Plus, if you don't do as well as you'd like, you will be more familiar with the exam and know how to study for it more efficiently the second time around.

Awesome, I just might do it. Time to head over to the DAT forum and find out the best study plans/approaches/books. I'm so freakin' excited...holy crap.

4 months to study for it!? thats awesome! go for it... at best ill get two months 🙁

Thanks In2Infinity, I'm glad 4 months is a good amount of study time. I'm sure you'll do great in 2 months man, hang in there!
