Starting pre-reqs; advice?

Take school seriously. These next few years are higher stakes than you realize, and will pretty much determine the path the rest of your life will follow.

To quote BSO trombonist Doug Yeo,
Yeah, if you're going to be great at something, you get there by being a dork. Michael Jordan didn't get to be the greatest basketball player of all time by just hanging around the 'hood with the brothers. No, he busted his butt on the court - and lots of time when nobody was looking. Of course, NOW we see that it looks so easy, but it wasn't always so. And the same is true for anyone who does ANYTHING well. Behind the "easy" exterior of excellence were years and years of hard work, slaving away, suffering, sacrifice and discipline.

Take school seriously, but honestly...do whatever you can to have a life too.

Take a trip. Enjoy yourself while you can, but also know when business has to come first. Time gets more and more scarce the further you go.
