Well.....now that it's just about time to find out where we are all going to end up, I was wondering what neat supplies we need for the first day of school!

Since my palm was stolen a few months back, I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on which ones are best in case my program doesn't supply one, and/or which applications are the most useful.

Also, are there books, pocket guides, etc...that would come in handy!

Any and all ideas would be great!

The little red ObGyn handbook is awesome.
Tarascon for meds (there is a palm version too)
Our program supplies a Handbook that has all our standard orders, what to do for what situation etc to the incoming interns. So not much else is needed. My medical school did the same thing so I suspect that a lot of programs may do it.

Good luck in the match

thought i would restart this thread. anyone out there figure out a plan to prep for being an ob/gyn intern? just wondering how to prepare for the time when i can no longer claim to have no responsibility.

First what I would do is buy the text OB GYN On Call it's a series Medicine on call is good too.... I would not buy and texts now as most programs will supply this But I would call to verify this. A good text if you need to buy one is Williams Obstetics a far easier reading than Gabbe Obstetrics. Novacks Gynecology or Coplend, Gynecology is good as well.

I thought my palm was invaluable I purchased almost all the OB programs and IM programs from www.skyscape.com
I especially would get Dr. Drugs 5MCC Washington manual and JHU OB pocket guide nice b/c these programs link.

If you have spare time review your Netter anatomy of the pelvis especially for vaginal deliveries to know landmarks. If your school has uptodate you are set as you can download print and read topics as normal labour, postpartum hemorrage, shoulder dystocia, operative vaginal delivery, c-sections as well as tons of gynecological problems such as ectopic missed abortion, sterilization, Abnormal uterine bleeding, contraception etc....

Good luck
