What would be a reasonable starting salary for somebody with 2 fellowhips and ~5 years of experience in private practice? How about in those megagroups like quest/ameripath?

I saw an ad at USCAP from a megalab looking for experienced pathologists and it started at 300k. I ran into an old teacher who became a regional head of a rival mega lab. When I told him the salary he paused, look both ways as if he had done something wrong and said, "Is that all?!" So in my limited experience I would venture to guess that it is $300k+.

Eh, I would guess $300 is not that far off. It depends on the group and the circumstances though. You are likely to find a huge range depending on the specific skill set and the candidate.
