aadsas application.

when are you applying for? your a little late for the 2009 cycle as it can take some time to finish the app, several weeks for aadsas to receive letters from evaluators, several weeks for aadsas to receive transcripts. several weeks after receiving transcripts to finish calculating gpa's, then several more weeks for them to actually mail out app after finishing and paying. good luck

if you were submitting app now, it might be ok. but if you have not started the process yet it may be a long shot

thanks, Im applying for the 2010 cycle.... does anyone else have any tips about applying? Maybe some mistakes that you made while applying that others might want to avoid? When to start, etc.?

I don't know exactly what you have done to show adcoms you're interested in dentistry, so here are some tips.

1) Shadow a general dentist and possibly two specialists for about 30 hours each.

2) Try to volunteer at dental clinics in your town or any the university might offer.

3) Schedule a meeting with an admissions member of your university or a dental school nearby and talk to them about what you can do to increase your chances of acceptances.

4) If you haven't taken the DAT, then I suggest you take it in March. If you don't do well on it, you can re-take it in June.

5) Submit your AADSAS application in May or June. For dental schools, early is on time. Start asking for LORs in April, because I know many people have problems with having their LORs submitted early.

Hope some of this helps.

Yeah, start asking for the LORs now, and talk to your pre-health committee to see about a committee letter. Take the DAT when you feel ready, don't rush it. Take it when you are comfortable. Start writing your personal statement, and get ppl to look over it.
