Ok,
So I started studying early for the Step 1 exam. I just meet with a couple of friends every Sat and review the 1st year material for that organ system we're on in our path class. I'm also working my a%^ off for path, trying to learn as much as possible.

Is anyone else trying this strategy OR has anyone else tried this strategy in the past and met with any success or failure?

Thanks

What some people do is take the 1st aid to USMLE and use it as a study guide to review what's more important while they are study for their new classes. But, really, everything is interconnected. You will know soon what you don't know, and what you know really well. At least I do. Good luck studying.

I agree, and I have heard of other people doing that. But what I was talking about is a little more involved.

I was just wondering of anyone who tried this strategy I talked about and had success or failure.

Thanks!

I've already started studying for Step I. Basically i try to reference everything i'm studying in class with First Aid. I also try to incoporate as many review books as i can (MMRS, BRS Path, BRS Physio, HY Behavioral Science). I don't want to have blank unmarked pages staring back at me when it comes down to crunch time.

a 4th year told me that starting in january she and a study group would meet at 6am to go over material for the boards. now i'm not sure if this was every dya, 1,2,3, 7 days a week or what. she seems to have done well.
I have started doing something each day. it may be going over some review sheets from past blocks or reviewing material pertaining to an organ system we are doing in path or doing some questions. i have had a few 3rd years tell me that they wished they had started earlier. they advised me to go ahead and start studying even though it adds more work now.

If you mean that 4th year started studying like that in year 1, I'd have to hand it to her. I think that's insane. I have trouble getting up for 8 AM class (of which I get up at like 7:50 sometimes to simply brush my teeth and wash my face).

I don't know how some of you do it.
