Hello guys,

I was trying to calculate my science gpa, and I came up with one question.

Is statistics 100 class considered to be one of the science gpa?

I know it depends on school and I will know when I summit my app to aamc, but I just wanna know if you guys have any experiences with this issue.

So my school basically have "statistic department" and the course i took is listed as "Stat 100" on my transcript.

Thanks guys!

Even though it's a different department under some colleges, it is still considered math.

For AMCAS, Statistics, regardless of course prefix, is considered part of the BCPM GPA (which includes all math classes), which is commonly abbreviated as sGPA. For AACOMAS, math classes are not included in the science GPA, also abbreviated as sGPA, which can be confusing.

I see, Thank you for great information!

One more question, when amcas calculates gpa, do they use +/- as 0.7 and 0.3 OR 0.67/0.33?? anyone know?

because I have lots of +/- and it really makes big difference... 🙁

So from what you are saying, a course entitled "Statistics" offered by the economics department would count for sGPA. But would about a course entitled "Econometrics" (with a prereq of linear algebra/multivariable calculus) offered by the economics department?
