Hi everyone, I have some questions in regards to any state/residency requirements that might exist for clinical rotations done by IMGs.
For US citizens who are Caribbean medical students, are there any requirements from California state or residency programs in California in regards to clinical rotations for our 3rd/4th years? For instance, do all the clinical rotations need to be completed at accredited teaching hospitals, or can they also be completed at private outpatient clinics, non-accredited hospitals, etc.?
I did see a forum post from 2006 in which someone wrote this statement: "California law requires all applicants to have completed 72 weeks of hands-on clinical clerkships during medical school in approved teaching hospitals." I cannot seem to find any information online in regards to this statement, or if this is currently still (or was) a requirement for students of foreign medical schools.
I would love to receive any relevant information about this topic, in regards to any potential requirements that may exist for both state licensing as well as eligibility for any residency programs within the state, if there are any.
Thank you all so much!
