I’m a current D4 who has matched into OMFS. I’m unsure of where I’d like to live after residency, but I have a few states in mind, specifically in the southeast region. Would it be wise to obtain a dental license in the state(s) I might be interested in now, in case they change requirements or limit the number of new licenses in the future? Is this a valid thought process or simply a waste of money? Also, would an OMFS or other specialist likely be exempt from such concerns?

Get your license, I’ve seen this pop up so many times. Anything can happen down the line and you don’t want to get caught with your tails between your legs
