When writing your statement of purpose do you actually title it "Statement of Purpose" at the top of the paper..? Also, are you supposed to sign it or anything? I know it's more of a statement than a letter, I'm just trying to figure out how to basically title it and end it. Also, is it okay if it is 2 pages and a couple sentences on a third? Or is that too long?

Oh and it is not double spaced.

Did everyone use times new roman?

I'm flipping out.

It depends on who you are writing it for. If the program wants a specific format, they will request it.

Lol, calm down, calm down. I don't think they need to have titles and I don't think you have to sign it. If they give a maximum word or character count DO NOT GO OVER IT 🙂 I don't think that is too long if you only talk about necessary things and your paper is interesting. If it isn't, then I would definitely shorten it (could you image having to read all of these statements? I surely wouldn't want to read 2 pages of a boring one). 😉 Remove anything that isn't relative (for example, I've seen some people put their gender, weight, what they like to eat, etc). Be sure you address every question in the prompt if given one. I did use times new roman. Oh, also, there is a cheap book that I bought that I found to be very helpful. It is called Graduate Admissions Essays-What Works, What Doesn't, and Why
