Statistics or biology

one stats major prob cuz not many people major in stat, let alone go to schools where they offer one. majority just does bio.
If I were you I'd just finish stat major early and take a semester off of sth. bio classes don't help with DAT at all. orgo classes helped the most. If I could do it all over again, I would choose an easier major and just take required bio classes. why would my major matter if I'm gonna be a dentist anyway? you know?

So I'm currently a junior at UNC majoring in statistics, but I have been thinking about changing my major to Biology for some time now. I initially chose statistics because I thought it would be a great back up plan if I didn't get into dental school. But now I feel that the difficulty of my back up plan is hindering me from achieving my main goal of being a dentist! I believe that my GPA would be significantly better if I chose Bio (fewer hours per semester and easier content). Even if I make the change half way through my Junior year I will be able to finish with a BA in biology with minors in statistics and chemistry. My questions are:

1. Are there any job opportunities with just BA in bio?
2.Does the BA look like I took the easy way out (as opposed to the BS)?
3. Changing my major would certainly help me when studying for the DAT, right?

A final note is that UNC dental is my top choice and I looked at their "class statistics" for the past couple years, and they only took one Stats major :dead:
PM me. Also went to unc and majored in stats.

I read somewhere that Bio majors actually do worse on most enterance exams (DAT, mCAT, pcat, etc) compared to other physical science majors (Chem, physics, etc) because they don't necessarily do better in the biology sections.

However, I have heard from a friend that he felt like he had a bit more of an advantage in dental school as a biology major when he compared himself to others.

Also I've never heard of a school caring about BS v. BA. I think they just care that you get your bachelors degree (or you have to be superstar to get in without a bachelors).

Dental students tell me it's beneficial to be a biochem/cell bio major.

Statistics teaches you how to think though and has great career prospects.
