I am planning on taking a Statistics course offered by the Department of Sociology at my school would this satisfy the Statistics prereq or should I take a Statistics course offered by Science department.

Thanks!

It should work, especially if you're in that department for undergrad. There's not much point to re-taking the course in the math department if you have already taken statistics. If worst comes to worst, you can always take an upper level stats in the math department.

It should count. However the statistics course for science majors will likely be more mathematical where as the statistics for behavioral science will likely be less math based and more hypothesis testing and conceptual. I personally took both and found the for science majors one significantly easier to swallow. Btw if the one for science majors is calculus based I would take the sociology departments version instead.

this x100

I took a psych stats class and my friend took a biostats class. His class had SO MUCH MORE computation, and my teacher taught more conceptually with barely any computation.
