ok, this little tiny problem has been bothering me for a day, and i cant figure out what to do, and i need to know so i can finish up a problem for stats. say i have a data set... ex . [2, 4, 6, 8, 10] and i need to find how many numbers fall within 4 and 12, do i count the 4 and say 4, or do i not count the 4 since it is one of the limits, and say 3?? sorry if this seems stupid and out-of-place to some of you, but im just not sure and i need a quick answer.

If the interval is written (4,12); don't include the 4. If it is written [4,12] then by all means, include it.
