I know SPSS is pretty popular as well as R and S-Plus if your really into stats. Any PhD students out there use OpenStat as their main program. If you're not familiar with it, its similar to SPSS but free.

I just took a look at this program and I'm impressed. Free programs can be notoriously difficult to work with if you don't have someone guiding you through them (see R or MX), but this was simple. I'm not an SPSS person (Mplus for me all the way!), but it looks like a simple, easy to use, and best of all FREE, program. I'm going to use it teach stats. It's better than having students purchase SPSS, especially the undergrad version with no multivariate tools.

Ooh, thanks for linking to this. I'm a huge fan of open source programs (hooray for Open Office!)
