I think UoP has a 2+3, or "0-5" where you go from high school into the program. They do not accept "transfer" students, which also precludes folks like me from utilizing that program (They consider a post-bac to be a transfer student).

Well, FAMU has a 0-6 program. Stats are listed below:

GPA: 4.13/4.0 (on a 4.0 scale), High school salutatorian.
Graduated with 38 College credit hours.
ACT: 23 (took it in the 10th grade and never took it again)

Yep, that's pretty much it. As it currently stands I'm one of the top 3 students in my class of 152 students.

Oh very nice stats

I might actually have a chance 😀

congrats to all of you high school seniors that figured out what they wanted to do in life while still in high school. I graduated high school with 3.7 unweighted and a 1350/1600 SAT but did not bother applying to 0+6 programs because I did not know about them and even if I did I probably would not have applied since none of my friends were doing it.

I was like a sheep and just wanted to hang out with friends and go where they were going to college. I was going to do premed simply because my friends were doing it (although I later dropped down to prepharmacy). So it took me four years to finish undergraduate (actually five, if you count the summer classes I took), and now I am starting 4 years of pharmacy professional school.

At least I get the prestige of going to a top rank school though...but who cares about prestige when I am going to school for at least 2 extra years >.<

thats pretty good, but i wish to pursue pharmacy so i am guaranteed a seat

Any1 else with more stats?

My sister got a huge scholarship to Philadelphia, but she turned it down for Northeastern because when she visited Philadelphia she said the surrounding area was absolutely horrible

I wish I was interested in pharmacy back when I graduated from high school in 2005.. It would have saved some time, and money.. Plus, I had decent stats too back in the day: 28 ACT, 3.8 gpa..... Oh well, it's better late than never. Thankfully, I'm going to a pharm school, not everybody is that lucky..

I have a 4.4 weighted GPA and a 4.0 unweighted,1380 on the SATs, and 7 AP clases. I was given a "guarantee" to the University of Pittsburgh after I finish 2 yrs of pre-pharm and was also accepted to Duquesne but that is no longer an 0-6. Yay Pitt!

SAT 1850 (650M,600R,600W)
ACT 28
SATII Chem 760
GPA 95 (98 weighted)
Rank 8th in class of about 240
8 APs including Bio, Chem and Statistics
also took Physics and taking Calculus (but not AP)
Varsity Golf (6 years)
Lots of EC

applied to USP (accepted), URI (accepted), MCPHS, St John's, Rutgers, WNEC (accepted--new pre-pharm 2/4 program) and SUNY Stony Brook (but not as pharmacy, just a safety net)

I would appreciate any information about the schools if you currently attend. I really liked USP when I visited (it was my #1 choice) but the boards have a lot of negative things to say about it.

I had similar stats and got into NEU back in the day (I'm c/o 2012, had exactly same SAT but like a 3.9 unweighted GPA). Didn't end up going there because after all the aid they gave me it was still a tiny bit more expensive than USP in terms of tuition, and living in Boston is A LOT more expensive than living in Philly. I'd probably be paying 3 times more than what I pay now for rent. Didn't really know about Rutgers when I applied.

Hi, I was wondering if you could explain the way year P4 works at USP. How many rotations for how many weeks each and when do you have to do them (summer, fall, spring?)? And can you arrange to do them closer to home (ie I live on Long Island and would prefer to do them at University Hospital Stony Brook)?
Thanks a bunch!

FROM USP's website: The APPE program is for 6th year Pharm D candidates and consists of eight 5 week rotations. Within these eight rotations, there are five core required rotations that are to be completed within the current Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (PCP) network. Three additional non-core rotations may be done within or outside of the current PCP network.

OK, I think I found part of the answer on USP's website but please feel free to elaborate on this. Also, the pharmacy school at the University of Rhode Island does it in six 6-week rotations available as 2 summer, 2 fall and 3 spring. They don't mention core vs non-core rotations, so do you think it's just the six 6-weeks?

Many schools do only 6 rotations, so I wouldn't be surprised. Just as a word of warning, while having 2 extra rotations is great (AND many people get to see non-traditional practice settings that way), it comes at a price (about $12k extra to be exact that the price increases between P3 and P4). Then again, I believe LIU charges 2k for IPPEs one of the summers (no clue how much it charges for rotations), so many private 0-6 programs will find ways to charge you like crazy and justify it with the fact that they're 0-6 programs. NEU may be worth going to after all (if you get a $70k scholarship), but still wouldn't be worth it for me because I wouldn't have gotten some of my state aid..
Not sure how the network is in NY, but we have many places away from Philly that are in our network. For example, someone was telling me that they did a rotation at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The network does have its "dead zones" however, even relatively close to the school. My roommate's from the Lehigh Valley and he can only find 2 rotations there.
I don't know how you'd find out where the network will be 6 years from now. I guess just plan on staying in Philly, but there might be places near you as well.

Hey bacillus1,

I just wanted a student's perspective of USP. Ive heard negative things about the school and I went to visit and didnt really see a college feel to it. It was totally deserted, I didnt see much students. Are there a lotta cool extracurricular clubs to join?, how is the campus life there, I thought it was really small, but its still in philly so do you have fun outside of just schoolwork? Ive also heard its full of indians and asians that are really competitive. Are there any good frats to join as well? I also know that USP has good connections to pharmacy companies as well.
Thanks a lot, I really do appreciate it

I didn't apply to NEU. After visiting MCPHS I basically crossed Boston off my list altogether. I still applied to MCPHS as a last resort.

Yea i got 1330 math and verbal SAT, 750 on sat2 chem, 740 on math 2, a 98.9 weighted GPA and i got into rutgers, im a senior, and i just got the letter yesterday. im hoping for st johns actually, anyone care to tell me their stats for st johns pharmacy? did they start notifying students yet?

Congratulations on Rutgers. I would think if you got in there you'll get into St John's. I haven't heard from either yet. I was accepted to USP, URI, WNEC & MCPHS.

By the way, what did you get on the writing portion of the SAT? I think Rutgers looked at all three and their mid 50th percentile was 2030-2230.

Thanx 2016pharmd. I got a 680 on the writing portion, with a total of 2010. I also applied to USP and URI but i havent heard anything yet. I honestly dont care, I just want to get into st johns badly. I live in ny, so rutgers is the closest school to me and if worst comes to worst and i dont get into st johns then ill just go to rutgers. Id have 2 dorm though. if i get into st johns i can live at home and my life will be so much easier!

The letter came today. $8000 annual merit money.
Big decisions to make now.

Congrats 2016pharmd! When did u complete your application and send it in? I didn't get anything yet, and im beginning to worry, because so far including you, i've heard of three people who got accepted. good luck making your decision!

Hi,
I can't see how you would get into Rutgers and not St. John's. I'm sure you'll hear soon.
St. John's is the closest for me too but I would dorm anyway because I live in Suffolk County. I'm going to visit URI as soon as their tours start again in February.

I should have elaborated. I completed the application online (9/1) and later decided to send in an essay even though it was not required.

WOW thats early! I completed everything about a week before december 1st, so i guess it was sort of last minute. Maybe thats why i haven't gotten anything yet, whether god forbid a rejection letter, or an acceptance letter. I guess all i can do now is wait... I also applied to USP, URI, UCONN, LIU, Albany college of pharmacy. I havent heard from any yet. You said you got an acceptance letter from URI?
ps. thank you for letting me know

Anyone hit me up if you have any questions about Rutgers Pharmacy. I'm currently a sophomore with 3.5 GPA about to enter my second semester.

I'm so glad that someone at Rutgers here and willing to answer questions. I have heard different stats for the retention rate at Rutgers Pharmacy. I would like to know the rate from freshman to the third year(P1), and to the graduation(P4) for the last few years. Of course, ballpark is good enough for me. Thank you.🙂

At Ohio Northern's March Open House, the Dean of Admissions stated that he turned down a Valedictorian who scored 32 on the ACT. 😱

Christmas came early when I found a nice fat envelope from ONU in the mailbox! I'm still doing the happy dance! I really 😍 this school!

In addition to ONU, I applied to Butler, Toledo, and UC, which offer 2+4 contingency programs. I also applied to OSU, which is 4+4, but I love their pharmacy house, campus and honors/research program. I've been accepted to all and invited to apply for their honors/research/early entry programs. I know which one I want; I don't know yet if I will be able to afford it. 😕

I attend a small, underfunded, public school with limited AP/Honors courses. So those in my situation, take heart! Work hard and don't give up!

Other stats: 3.97 un-weighted (includes 26 sem. hr PSEO) 32 ACT. I'm Into pretty much everything in and outside of school. 2 yrs. volunteering at a children's hospital. Job shadowed a pharmacist. State awards for leadership and community service.
