Hi nontrads!

I'm heading to my first interview in a few weeks, and I'm not quite sure if I should stay with a current med student or get a hotel. Money isn't really an issue-but it can't hurt to save it. I am pregnant, not showing yet, so I couldn't really go out for a "beer", and there's that whole fatigue and frequent urination thing. Would I be comfortable? I am wondering if by not staying with a student I'm at a disadvantage as far as getting to know the feel of the school.

Thanks!

No way you're at a disadvantage if you stay at a hotel rather than with a current student. You want to be as comfortable as possible the night before your interviews (ie, sleeping on an actual bed versus a ratty old futon). I stayed at hotels for every one of my interviews a don't regret it one bit. Usually there are ample opportunities to talk with current students during the interview day.

I plan to stay in hotels. I am going with the theory that the amount of money spent on hotels is small compared to the loans I will have to take out for medical school. It will be important for me to be comfortable and well-rested before interview day.
