Hey guys, I'm going nuts waiting for IIs to come my way. My logical brain knows that worrying and pouring over these forums will do nothing to help, but you know how it goes...

What are you guys doing to stay busy during COVID while you wait? In my home state, we've been hit pretty hard by the pandemic and everything from gyms to volunteering have been closed.

I've been playing a decent amount of Fall Guys and watching Peaky Blinders. Non-TV/movie suggestions are especially welcome!

I'm checking my email every 15 minutes and it's definitely not good for my health. Thinking about restricting myself to checking it once a day at a pre-set time. In terms of what I'm doing: working out twice a day, playing COD (thinking about getting the new PGA tour video game), sneaking onto the golf course to play a couple holes in the evening, then playing more COD with my friends at night, also procrastinating on my last 9 secondaries (applied to 40 something schools)

Whether you are waiting during COVID or in typical cycles, you spend lots of time waiting.
I understand that, but I'd just like some suggestions to keep busy since my normal stuff isn't possible (gym, volunteering, ect)

I’ve been reading a lot. All of those books the last couple of years I bought thinking “I’ll read this when I have the time.” Well, now I actually do. I highly recommend anything by Dr. Atul Gawande. I just finished Hot Lights Cold Steel by Dr. Michael Collins. After having to read so much dense material for school/work, it’s nice to read a lighthearted memoir by a surgeon about how his attending during his residency thought he was a dumb as a potato.

Thanks guys. Applicant life especially sucks this cycle, but it helps when you guys reaffirm that we're all in the same boat. I think finishing off my last secondary has been next-level on helping me mentally detach from the process. Also Animal Crossing. Good luck guys!

I would recommend reading a book you would genuinely enjoy, not necessarily a book written by a Dr. or one about medicine (though those are perfectly fine is that’s what you like).

One about surviving in a post-apocalyptic world. About picking up a suitcase full of money and being chased by a lone-wolf cartel member. About being a soldier during the Vietnam War and seeing death everywhere.

Stay busy!!!

Do push-ups and buy a chin up bar.

Catch up on reading; I've got several John Steinbeck novels to catch up on...beginning with Pastures of Heaven. Still waiting for my library to get me Twilight of the Gods by Ian Toll.
