If STD's are really that interesting to you, you should do a primary care residency followed by a masters in public health, then go to work for a health department.
Yes, urologists are expected to be knowledgeable about STD's, but whenever someone wants to see me about one, I refer them to the Health Department, where a system is set up for reporting, contact treatment, etc.

Yes STDs are treated by Urologists, Family med doc, ER docs if your in an ER room, and Internists (heck even planned parenthood (NPs at times).
