step 1 allow stratch paper?

are we allowed to write notes on a stratch paper when we take step 1? will they provide it for us? itd be alot easier to answer questions like lung volumes if we're allowed to draw it out. thanks,

You get two dry erase marker boards with two markers. For my Step 2 I was told that when I want to have the board erased, just raise my hand and the eraser-Nazi will come in and erase the board for me.

Honestly, however, for neither Step 1 nor Step 2 have I ever felt compelled to write anything down. It's a tremendous waste of time. But then again I feel kinda stupid when I walk by the other USMLE candidates and they've got marker boards filled with all sorts of crap.

Say there's some physio equation that I realized I blanked out on early in the test. I allowed use my break time between blocks to leave, look up the info, come back, write it on my white board, and just keep it there for the rest of the exam? Or would this be considered "unusual circumstances" that the testing center could report? (I'm not asking if you can leave in the middle of a block and look up something--obviously that's a no-no.)

No...you can leave that info for the whole test.

At my USMLE test center I got three laminated 8 1/2" x 11" pieces of blue paper printed with a grid and a couple of tired dry erase markers. I gave up on that whole thing after the first block.

Probably for them to inspect and see if you've written down any of the things they've asked no to, such as questions and stuff.

I wonder if anyone would ever pull a prank and write something down like: "Rip heart of proctor out and feed it to him," and have the eraser-Nazi come in and look at it.
