I haven't been on here very long and I have seen this request a couple time already. I'm not sure why it matters. Just score as well as you can and then try and do what you want.

People want to know because they feel like it'll give them an idea what they're competing against.

But just asking a few random people on a site like this ain't gonna give you any idea about competition (recall that Boards aren't the only thing that are considered.

Also although people are "anonymous" you can still sometimes ferret out who people are. And people more than likely won't be truthful about their board scores.

I mean, not sure about anyone else, I got a 290 last year on Step 1 and like a 350 on Step 2! Man I rocked it! 😉

Really just apply and hope for the best.

well in neurology the whole package of the candidate applying but if neuroguy is an IMG or FMG then hes right in worrying abt board scores since when it comes to FMGs,the most importan criteria for selection is board scores...even at very high scores they get fewer interview calls..i have a friend,an FMG with board scores of 231 and 225,has got only 3 interview calls from neurology and he applied to i think 30 programs ,so lets not bash this guy🙂

People are concerned about board scores and will be for years to come. I'm a FMG with pretty good scores. I think people with good scores are more likely to share them on the forum. I sometimes worry that if people only see high scores on the forum, they'll be discouraged from applying. I know too many good students/doctors with bad or not so hot USMLE scores. I can tell you it gives a FMG's confidence a big blow. It can & has put people off of going to the US all together.

My point is this, as a FMG you are at a disadvantage. But don't let it discourage you, it just means things are different for you and you need to behave differently. For example you need to apply to many more programs, plus I think (and this is just an unsubstantiated hunch) you'll probably hear from the programs later than the US grads. Plus, when you get rejections don't take it personally. also you have to get used to it, the match is about a lot of rejections and some of them can be harsh. My best friend was trying to match for surgery & was told "You do not have the merit to be considered for our program"!😱 I knew he was a great student/doctor (he kicked my ass in school easily) but they didn't. Lastly eventhough you may be good enough for the competitive programs, you may not get in. Some of them are a bit different though & will consider FMGs.

With that in mind I started by applying to 28 programs on Sept 2nd (USMLE transcripts & 3 referrence letters & personal statement all submitted), I then added some more for a total of 42 neuro programs & i added a 4th referrence letter. it cost me 590 dollars which is a lot of money, but less than the cost for step 1. So far, over a month & a half later, I've heard from 6 programs:

Invites:
Barrow institute, St Joseph's hospital
University of Vermont Program, , Burlington, VT
UTSW, University of Texas Southwestern Medical School Program

Rejections:
Mayo Clinic
University of Rochester
Washington University

My scores are 247(99), 228 (92), 216 (89) in STEPS 1,2,3 respectively. My point is this, I think you can get into neurology regardless of your scores, just apply widely. i.e. if it's better than not matching apply. if it's good enough apply, eventhough it's not your or your supervisor's dream. (if you are lucky enough to have a supervisor). Having said that, I'm happy about my invites so far & I'm looking forward to them & others.

I know people with average scores matching in medicine & others in neurology. Good luck everyone.

Too many rejections for me to state online and not-be-embarressed/keep-chin-up but I hear ya Wheez.
