hello all,

was just wondering about the competitiveness of nyc programs
(esp cornell, columbia, nyu, st v's, and st lukes-roosevelt). if known, what do you think one needs to get on step 1 to get into these programs.

thanks for any help at all

what did you feel about st v's and st lukes roosevelt?

thanks again for your help

Do a search for NYC programs in this newsgroup, this topic has been addressed and I agree with what was said. St. V's is a nice community program. Very friendly attendings, very cool residents. Facilities are not first class, the hospital is old, as are the call rooms. Not nearly as strong in clinical experience or didactics as the big university programs. SLR is a nice hospital, and the program is better than St V's, but is still more community than university oriented. The residents are smart, and fun. You can get subsidized housing across the street in Lincoln Center. Didactics seemed very good. They claim their regional experience is among the best. Neither of these places will be near the top of my list. I may not even rank St. V's, but I will rank SLR.
