I think it would be a good idea if those who have already taken step1 could contribute to this thread. It would def. be valuable to us who are yet to conquer. Whether someone got 99 or 75 or didnt even make it, you guys can input. Jus copy and paste the following and edit according to your experience. While each one's exam differs, it could give a general consensus collectively. For example, i hear path is approx. about 40-50%. In addition, there's a trend that changes periodically and recently, topics of biochem and physio are being covered more than before. Molecular is another one (most recent) that is seen more than before. So if you took step very early (like 3-5 yrs before), it might be worth mentioning.

Please note that you dont have to write in percentages. You can also very well say - 20 q's in anatomy. Thanx alot in advance.

Anatomy -
Histo/embryo -
biochem/gen -
mol/cell bio -
Neuroanatomy -
behav sci/epi -
Micro/immuno -

yes there is a good chunk of path. other than that, it's really hard to estimate in percentages.
if you want breakdown, go and look at the official pamphlet on the usmle website.

I'd just say "everything in FA". Memorize every nook and cranny well, do 2000 practice questions, and everything will sound familiar on the real test.

For what it is worth, I have heard the following breakdowns from upperclassmen:

Path, histopath, pathophysio, pharm- 50-70%
anatomy & embryo- minimal (often incorporated in path questions) 2-10%
Neuroanatomy- 5%
Biochem, genetics, molecular bio- 10-15%
Micro/immuno- 10-15%
Behavioral Med- 10%
Ethics, EBM- 5-10%

Of course, certain subjects may be more heavily represented on one person's exam than another's.

I heard that the average for pure Gross Anatomy is between zero and 15 questions per exam, and that Neuroanatomy is much more represented than Gross.

For the other stuff, they try to integrate as many concepts as possible into each question so it's really hard to say that one particular question was only testing on path, physio, micro, whatever.
