parental income! Fadem et al. shows a r = +0.60 correlation of step 1 score with parental income, it looks like you're parents need to make 80K plus to break the 240 mark 😱

That's interesting because I certainly know quite a few people who have cracked the 240 mark whose parents are about as broke as you can be. lol.

I always love it when anecdotal evidnce is used against studies.

yeah, i don't think the r2= 0.36 is very good 🙄

Interesting thread.

I just had a dream/nightmare last night that I made a 196 on my Step I, so I'm going to call my dad and see if he can get a raise ASAP...

😀

wrong. a definitive study conducted by NIH showed that the ones who scored 240+ got laid at least 5 times a week, preferably w/ more than 1 partner and sometimes with 2 partners at once.

good stuff, i hadn't heard the sex correlation... if you want more on the salary to step 1 correlation here is the source:

Fadem, Barb "The Brain"... BRS BS, 3rd Edition, pg 253

Studies show that step 1 score is directly proportional to penis size

It maybe anecdotal but I was making light of the fact that correlation certainly doesn't mean causality. This is certainly a very complex relationship, it might be that medical students on average have to have parents with above average income just to apply to med school. Also I wasn't using my limited experience to rebuke the data so don't read too much into it.

When I posted that I was just reading in the pre-med thread about how MCAT definately doesn't correlate with how well you do in school or some thread like that. Of course, I'm sure there is a correlation of MCAT scores and people who think this.

Actually, it is inversely proportional. Think about it. 😀 😀

Well, but I felt I did well, so I'm just protecting myself

I'm consistant, 13 years later. And I still don't know how to spell definately.
