Is it worth reviewing Step 1 material in order to prepare for Step 2, or are they totally different tests? I imagine someone who did well on Step 1 would do well on Step 2, meaning Step 1 score is indicative of Step 2 score. If this is wrong, please correct me. Yes, I realize Step 1 is basic sciences and Step 2 is clinical sciences, however, it seems that in order to go to the next step in clinical sciences, you have to have a good basic science foundation to build off of, or am I wrong?

I imagine the only things that would help from Step 1 are Phys/Path/Pharm for Step 2, or should I review all 7? 😱 Whatever it takes to crush this thing.

It sounds like you're just starting 3rd year, so take this advice.

Calm down. You just finished step 1. Enjoy it. You'll learn everything about step 2 during your rotations. The only ( and I mean only) thing about the 1st and 2nd year that you need to remember is possibly for pimping on rounds. Other than that, dont worry about it.

That said, there are definetly questions on step 2 and the shelfs that sound just like step 1 material. Dont worry about those. Just focus on the rotation and learn the diseases, how they present, and treatment options.

Dont forget to enjoy 3rd year.

When I took Step 2 just last week, there were a few more "basic science"-type questions - pharm (mechanism of action), biostatistics (positive predictive value), etc. But most of the questions dealt with diagnosis, treatment and management, something that's not really emphasized in Step 1.
