For those of you who took the Step 1 "Practice Session" at a testing center, did you feel it was worth the $42? The USMLE website says the practice exam is the same as the one available by CD/download, so I'm wondering if people feel it's necessary to go to a testing center just to get the feel for the "game-day" environment. Thanks--

I didn't do the review you're talking about, but I did take the in-center Kaplan simulated exam. My boards are in couple of weeks. There was lots of people coming and going from the testing room as well as others taking exams that required typing. Both were really distracting to me. I liked the idea of a dress rehersal because now I know I have to start doing practice questions in a busy computer lab environment to get used to it.

Do you know if the practice session is just a chance to take the released items in the testing center? I thought this was the case, but it seems from another thread on this forum that the questions might be different.

from what I understand, the practice session that Prometric offers is the same 150 questions that you can get from the USMLE web site.
