From USMLE.ORG http://www.usmle.org/news/step1scores.asp

Normal score reporting for Step 1 usually occurs in 3-4 weeks. However, because of necessary modifications to the test item pool as well as the processing load caused by a heavy volume of test takers, there will be a delay in score reporting for most Step 1 examinations administered in late May and June.

Can someone comment on what they could possibly mean by this? does this mean that each question is weighted differently?

thats the beauty of the USMLE in a way - NOONE knows how ANYTHING is done to get ur final score!

a wierd sense of finality about it if you think about it - noone can question them or anything.....

It's kind of like med school, where all the worst professors are very vague about what will be on their exams, how it is scored, and whether you can review the test/answers. Whereas some of the good professors will go over the test immediately after you take it.
