A while back I saw a site that listed all residency specialties acceptance rates, avg. Step 1 score, and other factors like that. Seeing as alot of us have just gotten our Step 1s back, I think we might benefit some by checking that out. Does anyone have a link?

BTW, Im not sure how much things have changed in the last few years, and this is only 2 years old, but have certain programs/specialties been more competitive? Ive heard that there is an upwards trend in EMED and Surgery, but I could be mistaken.

I don't think that there have been any trends significant enough to make a big difference over 2 years.

I've heard about upwards trends in almost every field -- gen surg, anesthesia, psych, peds, neurosurg, ortho, ophtho, PM&R, ENT, etc... The unifying factor is that someone applying to that field is the one who perceives it. I doubt that many of them are real.

It doesn't make any sense. By its methodology you end up competitive for anesthesiology with worse stats than for IM, which I don't think is the reality of the situation.

that might be because it weighs different aspects in each specialty differently. anesthesiology might give more weight to research than IM, or IM might give more weight to AOA status, etc. plus, it probably averages all programs across the country so that with certain stats it might be more realistic to match into anesthesiology in middle-of-nowhere than to match in IM at brigham or mgh. take its results with a grain of salt. its not supposed to be a clear-cut predictor. its just supposed to give you an idea of how your stats compare to those of residents in those specialties.
