Is there any way we can prevent our school from using our USMLE score in their reported school average?

I'm extremely dissatisfied with my school, and I've learned most everything through other doctors or books. My Step 1 score will likely be much higher than the class average, and since my school hasn't really contributed much, I really don't want to boost their scores.

As far as I know, there's nothing I can do; I just thought I'd ask.

Every school has good aspects and bad aspects. And it's a simple fact that MOST of what you learn in med school is self-taught. There is simply too much material to stick into a didactic lecture. Are you really THAT bitter toward your school? But to answer your question, as far as *I* know you can't hide it. If it isn't on the website, maybe you could call them.

heh call them and say what? You suck, give me my money back?

Look on the bright side, I don't know how many other schools you were picking from but UCW or where-ever you are gave you an offer, and you took it. They trust that you won't screw it up. Long story short, you'll be a doctor from a respectable school and you only paid $xxx for a legit diploma.

Maybe you can bring it up with the school how ineffective their teaching has been and through that cause some kind of curricular change.

Schools do whatever they feel like with USMLE scores anyways. Have you found a school that says we have "below avg" board scores?!?!! Nope....everyone says above avg.

But, I don't think you can "hide" it as you need to usually to continue rotations and to graduate. Plus, since your school is sponsoring you to take it, they automatically get your results, just like your match results.

you know if you really hate your school, just get a crazy bad score and THEN add it to their average. hah! you showed them!
