Is 12 weeks enough time to study for Step 1??

I go to a good school and do slightly above average, some people in my class have been studying for months.

I'm freaking out. Should I have started studying yesterday?

Do you guys get time off to study?

The professors in charge of making sure we are all registered/give advice on how to study said that anything over 4 weeks (that is to say 4 weeks of nothing but studying every day) is more than adequate. They even advise taking the first week of the break off if you're taking the test on the last available day. UF class averages are usually 230 for reference.

Don't forget about the fact that your classmates are neurotic. They've probably been secretly studying since orientation.

Yeah I believe we get about a month off. They told us that anything over 6 weeks of non stop studying and your score actually declines? Basically I just want to make sure I'm not being a huge procrastinator by waiting a few more weeks.

12 weeks of full time studying for the step 1 is a huge chunk of time. Most people seem to range in the 4-6 weeks of full time studying.

Nah, from all of the advice I've gotten at school and SDN I'd say you're good. Tell Dan Laan 3============D for me.

Well, it wouldn't be 12 weeks of full time studying... I still have a "light" course load.

Alright, 'preciate it.

And haha, will do 👍.

I did 4.5 weeks and really burnt out those last 5 days.... You dont think it will happen to you, but it really can.

12 weeks is more than enough time. Few people have that much time to study for step 1. I had 4 weeks and that was only because I gave up my entire summer and started rotations 2 days after my test.
