What are your opinions about having a step2 score at the time of interview? I did well on step1, but probably won't have step2 by interview season.

Also, have any of you found useful PDA software for neurology? I'm most interested in student-level stuff like general concepts, differential diagnosis, and "find-the-lesion." Free is best, but don't mind spending a little for a good one.

I did well on step 1 as well. Step 2 will only hurt me and I'm taking them late. You should do too 🙂

Let's be reasonable here... you're applying for a spot in neurology, hardly one of the more competitive spots for US-grads... most people I've talked to say unless you did exceptionally well (ie >250), then take step 2 right after you've finished third year; the material is fresher and you can get it done, outta the way and actually enjoy the 4th year without having the constant 'weight' of step 2 on your shoulders... plus, I'd think that most residency directors have probably caught onto the idea that students who do well on step 1 and postpone taking step 2 are probably just avoiding it for that exact same reason, and some of them may not look upon it favorably... my advice would be, regardless if you did well or not, take step 2 early while the material is still somewhat new in your head and be a stronger candidate... 🙂

vish~
