I need help.. I took and failed step 2 ck twice now!! I dont know what to do.. I am depressed. I am thinking abt going for a review course. Has anyone taken the premier review course for step 2 ck? any comments on it??
How abt the doctorsin training course? anyone..?

Are you an AMG or IMG? If AMG, how did you do on clerkships and shelf exams? Did you study with UW and FA or Kaplan prior to taking CK? If you really can't figure out the problem, a review course might be a good idea since this is your career we are talking about. There is likely a limit to the number of times you can fail CK and obtain a license and you might be headed towards it. I'm not sure how many people on this forum you will find who took a review course, you might find more input at other forums that have primarily IMG posters. Best of luck.

well.. i did the questions from uw bank the first time.. i did kaptest q bank the second time and both ended up in failures.. i am an IMG.. which other forums do u suggest? i dont know of anyone who took classes for step 2 ck.. other than kaplan, but i dont want to do kaplan.

I took Kaplan for CK and thought it was pretty good. The lecturers did a great job of going over the material. If nothing else, I thought the course books covered pretty much everything on the exam. I'd consider at least getting the Kaplan books and going through them, if you don't want to take the course.

Goljan works for Falcon now so I be that would be the best way to go for a course and for qbank almost any would do. I tried USMLE Consult, USMLE World, USMLERx. I probably like consult the best, but they are all good. Do lots and lots of questions, timed and untimed. I don't think any one thing helped, but all together I got a 265.

I can't comment on the review programs, but ask yourself: Why????

If it's a lack of knowledge, a quick review won't help that. Go back and study the books.

Bad test taking technique? Analyze your wrong answers on World and see what went wrong with your thinking process during answering that question.

If it's testing anxiety, see your doc for a B blocker or something.

Don't take the real thing until you've passed the practice exams from the NBME. If you're borderline with the NBME tests, then keep studying till you're safely over the passing mark! That's my advice as you really don't want to fail the test three times since it seems that three strikes and you're out in many places.

But to make you feel better, I do know of someone who failed it twice and still got into a decent residency program in IM. (And he was an IMG as well.) So all is not lost. But don't fail again!

whats 'safely over the passing mark for nbme'? 220?
