Dear all,

Exam is tomorrow so I had a last minute question on depression cases:
- what PE should I do? I read FA and it appears that they suggest HEENT, resp, cardio, abdo, DTR. Why abdo? I would have thought that neuro including CN + MMSE would have been more relevant...

Look forward to hear from you. Thanks in advance!

i would do neuro, MMSE, and thyroid. Might not have time for all of these, but you could always practice and time yourself to see what you will have time for on test day. My reasoning is that many neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinsons for example) and hypothyroidism can mimic depression. No idea why abdo would be recommended.

Yeah I am wondering if they list abdomen just as a "standard" (i.e. doing CV / Resp / Abd with each exam regardless of complaint).

depression can be due chronic pain, cancer and infection as well, that why, abd and lungs also included in PE i think so
