So i just got my score today. Failed. Pretty surprising considering i did well on Step 1 and CK. Does anyone know how/if this is going to affect my position on different programs' rank lists? Are the lists in already? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Will they even have this information before ranking? I don't know exactly how ERAS works, but will it re-send them that information once it posts? I guess you can check ERAS to see if a) the information has been released to the programs and b) who has uploaded that information from the ERAS Postoffice.

If you see that a program has uploaded the info, then I would talk to your school's PD and see if they would recommend a pre-emptive e-mail or phone call to explain what happened. I think one of the reasons the programs would be concerned is that you will probably be limited on the amount of time you've got to pass CS prior to beginning residency (and I believe you have to pass it before residency in most places).

Good luck with everything.

All other questions aside, one thing I am sure of is that the programs do know that you received the result today even if they don't have the result released to them via an updated transcript if they choose to look at you in the computer. Therefore, if you don't release it ASAP with or without an explanation it will leave them wondering if they choose to wonder... but I doubt maybe people are even logging into ERAS at this point including myself.

Good luck.

Start studying for it tomorrow and get ready to take it again before residency starts.

As long as they don't know it won't matter until after Match. If you sent them the scores my understanding is that you will have to do a lot of calling and explaining.

Either way best of luck!

if you don't release the score or tell them that it is coming how would they know that you took the cs?

We had a dude in my class first year who failed CS. He just took it again during internship and passed it. No big whoop.

actually, I think u have to pass before u graduate from med school. If u didnt release your scores, they will not know until after the match. You should plan to take it well before graduation however so u dont have problems getting your passing score back in time to start in June-july.

I think the requirement to pass CS to graduate is determined by the individual medical school (not every school has this requirement). We recently implemented that at our school a couple of years ago after a lengthy discussion. That being said, I think it is a requirement to begin residency at most places so everybody has to do it anyway (unless they're doing some non-traditional job after school).

Maybe now, but definitely not true in 2005 when we started residency and in my current State. Dude failed it for sure. Took it internship year. Didn't hold-up his medical training license either.

All 12 programs I interviewed at require you to pass CS prior to starting.

I am sorry for the stress, dude. Study hard and good luck with everything.

do you know what they scored you low on?

After the sheet that tells you if you pass or fail, there is a page that they use to write specific comments down to help for the next time, if someone does not pass. If you pass, the page is blank. There is a descriptive box at the top of the page that tells you what it is for.
