Step 2 CS - Notes before Encounter

Just a quick question...I wasn't able to find this info on the Step 2 CS site..but before you enter the room after writing down the patient info, can we make additional notes on key points before entering the patient room?

Yup, but only after the announcement is made to start your patient encounter. I would use up to a min before entering the patient room to write down general mnemonics like pam hugs foss, etc for all encounters and add others on (sigecaps, OBGYN mnemonics) for each specific case. I found just about everyone made notes before entering patient rooms.

Don't start writing before you get the signal - the guy next to me was called aside for that and questioned for "irregular behavior" or something to that effect. Good luck!

While I didn't take the CS specifically, the COMLEX PE is basically the same and the most I think I wrote down before I went in were the pt's name and vitals.
