It seems as if peds cases simply require a history (and no physical) from the parent. But, if there is a straight up psych patient on the CS exam, is a physical exam required?

Read FA. If you did, you'd know that on the door it tells you whether to perform only a history or an H & P for that specific patient.

And please don't tell me that if I was half awake on rotations I don't need anything. It's been quite a while for me and I think I was more than half asleep through that crap anyway. Thanks.

Yes.

Here's the rundown:
Be thorough with your History, do a focused physical when required (including basic heart/lung ascultation), and always wash your hands. If you forget to do an important maneuver, or run out of time, be sure to add it to your work-up.

That should get you a pass.

i think FA is enough and you can always practice with somebody if you want. I took CS a few months ago after having not seen a patient in six months and passed...i spent about 3-4 hours over the course of a week looking at FA (probably studied way too much). Seriously, FA provides some helpful insight into how the CS is setup and gives you patient checklists and differential diagnoses for common outpatient problems. Sorry, i don't know anything about other sources...good luck.
