Buddy of mine got a lower step 2 than step 1 by 3 points. Both in upper 240's though. Should she be worried? She has an excellent app, AOA, research, but is concerned that since she didnt take step 2 seriously it will be a read flag. Thoughts?

A thing like this does not matter in the grand scheme of things and shouldn't be the source of any worry for you or for your buddy.

Good luck with the application process!

This will definitely not hurt her application. She should get plenty of interviews.

Your "buddy" *cough* you *cough* should worry. OB/GYN needs at least 250s for BOTH Step 1 and Step 2. Sorry to break it to you.

Leo Aquarius - How many applications do you review each year? Maybe you were able to get 250's in both Step I and 2 but that is an unrealistic expectation for most applicants. Board scores do not carry as much weight as they used to because high scores are too common anymore. She is AOA, has research. Sounds like she is an excellent applicant and she will not have a problem.

I'm pretty sure the previous poster was being facetious. The average OB step 1 score is nowhere near 250.

The original poster is a tool anyways for asking a dumb question.
