Hey,

Just took the test last thursday and I had a couple of questions for people who already took the test. First, how long did it take to get your scores back? Second, did any of you find their test extremely difficult? I did very well on Step 1, was scoring in the 80s w/Qbank and 65-75s w/ NMS for Step 2. I felt the questions (on the test I took) were very hard and I was pressed for time. Did anyone else feel like this? If so, how did you score? Any input would be greatly appreciated. You know, typical freaking-out gunner.

I haven't gotten my scores back yet as I only took it 1.5 wks ago, but am replying b/c I was doing in the 80s on qbank the week before the exam and felt prepared, but feel I got slammed by the actual test. There were 2 sections of step 2 during which I felt very comfortable. After that it was all downhill and I was wondering why I had even studied b/c none of it was from my sources (B&W, blueprints). I just hope everyone feels this way and i did better than I think, otherwise I screwed myself by taking it early.

I felt the same way. Had several vent questions. Very few questions were simply recognize and find disease, etc.. Felt like I was sitting for my IM Boards. Had me wondering if I was taking the right test.

I came out of step 2 feeling like it was much harder and that I had done worse than I did on step 1 (score in the lower 250s). When I got my scores (one exactly the third Wednesday after I took the test), I had actually gone up by about ten points.

I wouldn't stress too much -- you probably did well. Anyway, the test is over with and there is always residency stuff to stress over🙂 .

Edited to add: I really think that the ones of us who have already taken the step will come out ahead in the long run. I look at my classmates who are trying to juggle residency apps, subIs, and studying for the step and see how stressed they are right now.

"msenger", roughly how many ventilation questions did you have? from what i've heard, some people have a bunch of them and others have none. thanks.

My school gives all shelf boards at the end of the third year so I began reviewing for those (given in early June) during down time on my last rotation. After the end of subject boards, I had about two and a half weeks before I took the step for extra review although in retrospect, one or one and half weeks would have been sufficient.

I had 4-5 vent questions. Studied during my rotation before boards and week before exam.
