Do programs care when we take Step 2 if we did very well on Step 1?

I did well on Step 1 (>250), and would like to push Step 2 off until January, as I'm concerned I have nowhere but down to go from my >250 score. January fits very nicely in my schedule to do this. Do programs frown upon taking it that late?

Nope. As long as you pass Step 2, you're good. No one cares about Step 2 if you did well on Step 1. Considering you did well on Step 1, your chances of doing worse numerically are higher. Happened to me as well.

It's true that nobody will care and that if you take it sooner, you may do worse. But, if you take it early and do BETTER, you will look like a baller. I don't know if you want to take that chance though.
