    Hi everyone

I had a question about step 2 timing. I am a third year, and at my medical school we finish clerkships in December. I am thinking that I would like to take Step 2 so that the score will be out for residency applications (not 100% decided on what specialty I am going for yet). I was thinking of studying for and taking Step 2 CK in January in order to get it over with, while clerkship knowledge is still freshest in my head, and to be better prepared for my SubI in medicine and Away rotations. However, some fourth years I spoke with said that was a bad idea and that taking Step 2 later (such as in May or June) is better because at that point I will know more and my score will be higher.

Do you all have any advice? My step 1 score is sort of middle of the road.

    Thanks so much.
