Step 2 Timing

I've heard some people say that if your step 1 score was high, its better to wait and take step 2 until after you apply for residency.

Is there much truth to this? When is typically the best time to take step 2? Looking to go into IM or Med-Peds. Am a DO student applying only ACGME, if that makes any difference

September/October is the sweet spot. If you do well, you can send the score in autumn when it could still help you or not send it at all if you don't do well
