If I were to read all the NMS Series for the Step 2 subjects:

NMS Internal Med
NMS OB-Gyn
NMS Pediatrics
NMS Surgery
NMS Psych

and use the normal question tools used (Qbank and USMLEWorld, and maybe Pretest) as well as summary comprehensive stuff (First Aid and Boards and Wards). Would I be able to answer 80-90% of questions? I know no one can predict this, however, I guess I am trying to predict the value of NMS vs. the Blueprints series. The Kaplan books seem a little skinny for Step 2 Review.

I think for Step 1, it seemed like Kaplan was not the "Messiah" that I expected it to be. I was better off using good longer review books ex.

Physiology, Costanzo (instead of BRS)
STARS Path, (instead of BRS)
etc. etc.

rather than the lecture notes which seemed diluted, and seemed that you had to know more than what was presented in the lecture notes, except for Biochem which I thought was their best book.

Anyways, back to Step 2. On this same mode, I am assuming that mastering longer review books will be better. Any help or advice is appreciated. I would like to break a 240. I will keep you guys aware of my final plan and see what happens.

Wow, what ever happened to the two months for Step 1, two weeks for Step 2 and 2 days for Step 3 guidelines for study time. Ok so I didn't follow that advice either.
I am waiting on scores, but felt very prepared with Q-bank, Step 2 secrets, boards and wards and blueprints for IM, OB, and peds.
Guess I'll see in a couple of weeks if it was enough.

Good Luck.

I had always heard it as 2 weeks for Step 1, 2 days for Step 2, #2 pencil for Step 3. I think I like my version a lot better

2 weeks for Step 1? I've never heard that, not even jokingly.

Fair enough, but two months? Unless everyone else's school gives you a lot more time between 2nd and 3rd year, this just isn't feasible. Surely someone else has heard the #2 pencil part for Step 3...

Yeah, the way I heard it was "2 months for Step 1, 2 weeks for Step 2, and bring a #2 pencil for Step 3." Of course, this is a hogwash phrase that I doubt anyone actually follows. Hey JadedSoul, what do you think of the above plan for Step 2. Of course, after your Step 1 score, I doubt you would want to take Step 2 until after match.
