For those who've taken CK already, how much would you say Step 1 prepared you for Step 2? My school does clinicals before Step 1, and due to my schedule next year, it might be more advantageous for me to take Step 2CK shortly after my rotations rather than during 3rd/4th year. For reference, our school does rotations during second year, research during third, and subI/electives during fourth; my hypothetical would be to take Step 2CK at the start of third year with ~2 weeks protected study time, and Step 1 mid-third year with ~3 weeks protected study time.

That's probably the best I can do with time off given my research commitment. Will doing Step 2 before Step 1 put me at a significant disadvantage?

The alternative would be to take Step 1 about halfway or 2/3rds of the way through third year, with maybe 2-3 weeks protected study time, then Step 2 either at the end of third year or in December of fourth year with maybe 2 weeks protected study time. My personal preference is to get Step 2 out of the way before ERAS is due, but either way, I'll be doing a lot of part-time studying.
