hey guys,

have been studying for step 2ck on and off for a few weeks now (with interviews and all the studying has been a bit difficult). got 239/540 on nbme 1 (had taken it once before when i was trying to take the exam in may but you never know what the correct answers are for nbme since theres no answer key etc). i know everyone says nbme 3 and 4 are the best predictors, so i'm planning to take one of them over the weekend. my exam is next wednesday. do you guys think i should be good to go? i just feel a bit nervous because i didn't study for this like i studied for step 1, so i feel more iffy about it... thoughts?

oh and one last thing... i'll only have gotten through about 1300q's out of 2200 on my step 2ck qbank. i've done about 1500 of these once before (when i was studying for the exam in may but never ended up taking it, still it was a while ago)

NBMEs are outdated.
Take the UWSA and find out since it is the best predictor currently.

will do that this weekend. but just a follow up ques: i basically just need to pass step 2ck (interviews are going on right now and the specialty im applying into doesnt look at step 2 scores at all really)... do you think with the current nbme score that i took i would at all fail the exam? i want to do well of course but should i be okay going in considering i scores more than 40 points higher than failing on the practice.

Currently the Step 2 CK is one of the toughest test and it has no resemblance to any of the NBMEs. Even UWSA is not close to the real deal but it tests your overall knowledge very well and therefore it continues to be the best predictor currently.
Why take a chance since these scores will be there for 7 years and you might regret rushing into it later on.

I agree with you- I'm definitely not trying to rush it. Our school requires us to take the test by 12/1, therefore I have to take it by the end of next week. My date is 11/28. I'm going to take the UWSA this weekend, if it goes well, I'll be taking it. I've done DIT w/ step up to step 2 (basically gone through most lectures twice now). I'm only nervous because my studying for it has been split up (I was going to take the exam much earlier on in May but got cold feet). Now I've been studying alongside interviews. I've done most of the qbank first time around. And I'll have done 1300 q's the second time around. Just need to get the exam over with by my school's deadline...
