Hi all. I'm a U.S. medical student who recently finishtheme interview season. Due to financial reasons & my interview season, I will be taking my step 2cs on March 2nd, receiving my results no earlier than April 24th. I have been told by programs for which I interviewed, I would still be ranked. I wanted to get an informed opinion regarding this issue. Also, if I need to undergo the soap process, will I be considered by programs without my step 2cs result?

Yeah its no big deal at all. I think that they assume you're going to pass... like 97% of US grads do. You just have to finish it prior to starting residency.

I think this is specialty/program dependent. Some specialties/programs will have wanted to see it done before the match, most won't care as long as you pass before residency.

Interestingly, there is some new rule in MA where to get a training license you need to have passed 2cs, which I guess was a change of some sort. I just got an email this week from one of my programs in MA that they won't be ranking anybody who doesn't have passing scores in 2ck or 2cs by Feb 22nd. (surprise!) Not sure if you're applying to any programs in MA but this seems to be kind of an abrupt change. My score wont come back until at least next month so guess I'm not getting ranked...

I don't think its required, but I did have a program email me asking if my scores were in because my ERAS app stated I had taken it a few months ago.
