step 2cs to rank?

Hi all,

I have a (admittedly neurotic) question. I'm an AMG applying to IM, done interviewing, and got an email from a program requesting my Step 2CS score, and I realized that I never resent my USMLE transcript to include this score (available since October). I think I got confused by the previous rule that the transcript 'automatically updated' itself, which was my mistake. I resent my transcript today (includes all the Steps now) and am wondering if I've somehow put my application into like a 'review later' or 'incomplete' pile because my CS score wasn't available yet, since I know some programs do require CS to rank applicants. Could this actually happen?

Obviously not much I can do about it now, and I realize the waves of crazy coming off of posts like this, but I need someone to stop me from emailing every program to let them know about my CS score haha.

Make sure you re-send the scores, e-mail your top programs to let them know the step 2 CS score has been updated. That's pretty much all you can do.
In the future you will learn from this mistake. I always think checklists are very useful for these important tasks - to make sure you have everything in order
AT least you know what do for fellowship, etc.

Aaah almost exactly what I was hoping to avoid haha, but thank you for your reply! I think I will do that so I can at least do something about it. Pretty much every program I applied to finished interviewing in the past 1-2 weeks so I'm hoping that they'll get the info in time for ranking, if the CS pass is something they care about.

Any other comments? The other threads I found usually involve CS scores coming in well after rank lists are due, it's the 'technically being on time' that's killing me lol

My take on it is that if any program specifically cares about Step 2CS (and notices that it's missing), they'll email you just like the first program did.

You still have a month until rank lists go in. If you send your scores now, you'll be ranked and you'll be fine. I personally don't think you need to send email updates (except to the score that specifically emailed you). Just re-submit your USMLE transcript and move on.

Don't email the programs except the one that emailed you with the update. They will see it.
