Hey all, I'm ending my first year of path residency and I just took Step 3. I did 800+ KAPLAN Qbank questions and the CCS samples on the test CD that THE NBME sends out. Many of the multiple choice were just weird and my CCS cases kept ending rather abruptly. I felt as though the diff dx was straightfoward from the history, then I would do my tests, treat them and check back. All the patients improved, execept for the one which I almost killed, and then they were over. Did I do that right? At the end, I didn't tack on too many extra orders except for telling everyone to wear their seatbelts, because I heard you got points for this kind of thing. Did I miss something?

I don't think so - people will often say they just end abruptly. I had one where I figured it out immediately and then didn't know what else to do (pediatric office visit for failure to thrive which was CF). I just kept doing follow up office visits and getting histories and physicals, and the kid was always doing well. I kept doing all usual kid stuff like checking on vaccinations and all that. Then I had another case that was complicated as heck and it abruptly ended after I had ordered everything but before most of the results came back.
