step 3 for license requirement

Do you need to have completed step 3 in order to begin the licensing requirements? Looking at the initial application, it asks for my Step scores.
Can you submit the "Initial and Update Application for Physician's License" without the Step 3 score to get started, and update later?

Searched the forums (and the interwebs) but couldn't find an answer... figured if anyone knew, it was to be found here.

If it is a temp license, then no you don't need step 3 ... you are mostly covered by the hospital...but if u are talking about permanent license, then I think you need step 3 scores. I could be wrong.

The best place would be your GME office at your program as very likely could be state dependent. per FSMB website, you have to have passing score on all 3 steps to get a permanent license

I think you didn't understand the question. I'm talking about permanent license. And my question is, do you have to have finished step 3 to BEGIN the licensing paperwork? Obviously, you have to pass step 3 to complete it...

...every state is different but generally speaking you do not need step 3 score to start the process...it takes time to collect all the documents. you can update the step 3 score/results later.
like NY state to apply for step 3 you have to have the application for license already in the system.
I will suggest send in your application before you have step 3 that is OK...all they want is your application fee
