Hi, are the blocks in step 3 divided by location, such as office, ER, inpatient, etc.? This is how it is on the practice USMLE CD and I read somewhere on the internet that someone said one of their blocks was just ER. Is this how it is on the real exam?
thanks!

Yes, before each section there was a page that stated what section you were in; clinic, er, etc.

I didn't really pay attention to those, but it seemed like it was mainly general practice or ED; that way they can throw a diverse set of questions at you. Seemed like there were very few inpatient questions on my exam.

I'd recommend paying attention to this during the exam. If the patient has unstable vitals or an impending disaster you need to change the setting to ER. Having the person in the ER >48 hrs is bad.
