Hi, I read prior posts and the FAQ. Got a lot of great info about when to take the exam and what to study, etc.

just have 2 remaining ?'s
1. is an actual score reported for the exam, or is it pass/fail?
2. if a score is reported, does it matter on any level? for example, is it just another way for dermpath fellowships to filter out applicants? if u switch out of path to IM, will the score be more impt then?

thanks.

i don't think step 3 matters for anything except getting your state medical license.

You do get a score.

I get the impression that dermpath fellowship directors are so inundated with quality applicants that they will look at absolutely anything to help eliminate candidates. With that said, I'm studying for Step 3 right now and can hardly bring myself to even care about it. When will I ever need to treat closed angle glaucoma?

1. It might as well be pass/fail but an actual 3 digit/2 digit score is reported similar to Step 1 and Step 2 CK.
2. Anything is possible really. I would think that in most situations, the Step 3 score doesn't matter.
